The young couple bought this Noe Valley home because of the space and layout but it’s builder specified finishes were cold and common and they wanted warm, earthy, and unique.

We selected soft and light neutrals for the paint colors throughout. A large blank wall of the main living room was the perfect place to create a wall of shelving for their collection of books, display items, and a spot for their turntable and beloved records.

A design was created for a wall of offset floating “boxes” and cabinets. The sides of the shelving are an open laser cut pattern that allowed us to bring in the warmth of wood and still keep the whole unit feeling light and airy. A sliding library ladder was incorporated into the design to reach the upper levels.

The fireplace was stark white and plain. We clad it in slate ledgerstone and added a live edge mantle of mahogany. An antiqued finish coffee colored granite was selected for the hearth and a comfy reading nook was created with cushions and pillows that also doubles as additional seating when they have gatherings. The custom curved sectional lets them enjoy the views and the fireplace.
